8 October 2016 will be the seventh consecutive year of the Great Aussie Camp Out.
This self managed event is an invitation for all Australians to camp out on the night of October 8th. Gather your friends and family for an enjoyable night under the stars.
Your camp out is completely up to you. For begginners you may wish to pitch the tent in the backyard, for the intermediate camper who still likes some of the 'home comforts' hiring a site at a caravan park may be for you and if you're an experienced camper perhaps a location in a National Park may be up your alley. Whatever you choose we're sure you'll have a wonderful time. Check out what's on in your state- http://www.greataussiecampout.org.au/whats-on.
There has been many articles written about the benefits of being outdoors and the Great Aussie Camp Out is that perfect opportunity for Australians to re-engage with the great outdoors.
As always, we recommend that all campers are well prepared, notify others of where you will be camping and when you expect to return (particularly if you are camping out in a remote location), pack for the conditions and be aware of what the weather is doing where you plan on camping out. Pack apropriate equipment and clothing- an extra pair of batteries for your torch always comes in handy!
Enjoy the night, re-connect with your friends and family, play games, toast marshmellows and look for sattelites (if you can spot them).
Most importantly, make sure you register your camp out on the Great Aussie Camp Out website- http://www.greataussiecampout.org.au/register-gaco, who knows, you may even be lucky enough to win a prize!
We'd love to hear about your camp out experiences- share with us.
