Our story is from 2005, when our retirement village opened and the first of the residents moved in. We decided we'd have a weekend away at the Innes National Park and stay at the Marion Bay Caravan Park about 2 hours away from our home town. Those of us villagers who had no caravans or partners, stayed in cabins, and the rest of us stayed in our campers, caravans and/or motorhomes. We had people interested in walking, some liked fishing, some were just happy to enjoy the friendship. The night was cool, so the camp kitchen was utilised for our evening meal. Well, you have never heard people laugh so much before. We laughed til we cried and til it hurt! It was such a comfortable, unplanned get together of a differing group of people, we enjoyed it so much we have never forgotten it and talk fondly of it ever since. We decided that night we would call our camping group the Copper Coasters, and we have got together several times since, although that has proven more difficult as our caravanners are often away for 6 months or more at a time. However, it cemented lifelong friendships between people who hardly knew each other before that weekend.
