As a single mum I was a bit nervous when my oldest boy who was 6 at the time started talking about wanting to go camping. So I introduced him to Joey Scouts....but that just gave him a taste for it. We laybyed a tent and booked a site at a caravan park for our first trip. I was a bit concerned about getting the tent set up with just me and 3 small boys but determined not to let it stop me. I was telling my sister how good the guy at the van park was (he had said they would help us with the tent if need be) and she asked what park we were going to. What a surprise we got when we arrived to find my Mum and Dad at the site next door with their campervan! We had a great weekend especially as with my parents interstate the kids don't get to see their grandparents as often as we would like! Over the past couple of years we have enjoyed a few trips on our own - loving that the tent gives us freedom to have a cheap holiday away from TV and electronics and just enjoying family time.....I now have two cubs and one about to join Joey's. This October we are planning another weekend with the kids Granma & Gramps, they have their new caravan now and we still have the trusty tent.
